The Launceston Touch Football Association (LTA) is the Northern Tasmanian affiliate for Touch Football Australia. Touch Football is a field, team sport based on rugby league, without the need to tackle.

The LTA came into inception in the 1980s and has had steady participation in growth over the last 30 years. We now boast 7 clubs within our association who, with our social teams deliver over 1000 players in over 100 teams.

From the highly competitive division 1 to the social enjoyments of the lower divisions and the mixed competitions we truly are able to cater for all.

The LTA prides itself in junior development and providing a pathway for our elite athletes. The once a year State Cup gives us the opportunity to take on other Touch Football affiliations in Tasmania where the best of the best are selected to represent Launceston.

There are also national competitions once a year where our players have the opportunity to represent Tasmania in all age levels.

Competitions

The LTA provides a Touch Competition for all ages ranging from 8 years of age. The LTA has junior, women, men and mixed competitions that are run over summer. The LTA runs one competition per year, at Prospect Park from October to March.

The divisions of competition for the junior competition is based on age and the senior competition is graded on level of skill and experience.

Referees

Touch football is easy to learn, needs limited equipment and is generally a limited-contact sport. However, if you would love to get into touch, one of Australia’s fastest growing sports but would prefer not to play we also cater for playing and non-playing referees who are payed on a per game basis.  We encourage beginners to take up refereeing to gain a deeper understanding of our sport.
